Walnut Slabs
SPECIES
Excluding the outer most cuts, this light character log boasts widths over 20 inches for each slab. They are reasonably flat at well so most of the thickness could be maintained during finish. This set starts out pretty clear but has a knot cluster near the far end that gets more prominent near center cuts. There is also a split on the butt end of this log that varies in depth and location from piece to piece.
The last note is the crack that runs inside the sapwood on one edge of slab 5, 8, & 9. The full width of these slabs are written on the faces of the pieces, but the tallies have large width reductions which exclude the split and the outside wood.
